In a dirty, gritty area of the south of England comes the UK’s premier dirty, gritty Sleaze Metal band, Spyder Byte.

Formed in 2011, the band originated from Connor Godfrey’s (Drummer) and C.C’s (Guitarist) mutual love of 80s Glam Metal and Hard Rock. The melodies and the upbeat attitude of bands such as Poison, Cinderella, and Motley Crue set the tone of what kind of sound the band wanted to veer towards.

After recruiting bassist Nathan Hammond shortly after inception, the band began writing original material heavily influenced by the sounds of the sunset strip that they had heard from such American powerhouses and blended it with the raw aggression that bands tied to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal demonstrated to begin to create a unique blend of Sleazy Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.

After a handful of originals were written, the band set out to search for a vocalist with a heart of fire and a throat covered in gold and, after a number of applicants, settled on Daniel Lawrence. Here, the band experimented with fitting Dan’s vocal capabilities and the musicianship from the founding three together to further enhance the sonic identity of the band, but something was missing. The band decided on adding a rhythm guitarist in the form of David Symonds to strengthen the sound. David was part of Spyder Byte for two years whilst the band recorded their debut E.P ‘Love Bomb Ticking’ (2013) before moving on with Luke Naylar (Guitarist) in 2014. This change in members signalled the start of a new era in the bands career.

In 2015, Spyder Byte recorded their debut album ‘Addictive’ (2015) with Sam Threader of The Cros Nest. 8 tracks full of furious, melodic Sleaze Metal was on its way to the masses and was received positively. 4 years on, the band have finally released their sequel to the debut. The new album, ‘When The Lights Go Out’ (2019), solidifies Spyder Byte’s standing in the UK underground scene as one of the key players of the modern British Sleaze sound, blending and taking influence of the heavier side of Metal and the fun energetic side of Rock and Roll to create this piece of work that would not be out of place if played in Vice City. Strap yourselves in l, because this is one ride you are not going to get sick of!
